KARACHI: An under-trial prisoner (UTP) who had escaped from jail was rearrested in a joint action carried out by the Shah Latif police, an intelligence agency and the jail police, said a statement on Thursday.

It added that UTP Tahir alias Polka is facing trial for the alleged kidnapping and murder of a trader.

The police statement further said that acting on a tip off, the raiding party rearrested him near Landhi railway police station. He had fled from the Landhi jail on May 9 by taking advantage of a programme held at the jail.
