HYDERABAD, July 7: The University of Sindh will allocate funds for award of scholarships to faculty members of the mass communication department for doing MSc courses in foreign universities.

This was announced by Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui while speaking at a ceremony held to distribute certificates at a training workshop on Friday.

The workshop was jointly organised by the Centre for Rural Development Communication in collaboration with the Mass Communication department for volunteers and faculty members.

Teachers from the University of Karachi and University of Sindh were among resource persons who spoke on varied subjects related to mass communication.

The vice-chancellor said that human development was most important and refresher courses also help in skill development.

He said that the university had been paying full attention to development of the mass communication department and providing facilities to produce best graduates.

He said that new building of the department along with required components would be completed in the near future.

He said that the university would be providing scholarships to young faculty members of the mass communication for doing MSc from foreign universities so that after their return they could perform well in teaching the subject.

He said that great responsibility rested on the shoulders of media institutes to create awareness among rural masses.

He said that if the department produced good graduates hopefully they would be able to deliver good service in the field of rural development.
