Shopkeeper dies in gas explosion

KARACHI: A shopkeeper was killed while four others were injured after a gas cylinder explosion in the Safoora area near Sindh Green Hotel on Tuesday, the Malir Cantonment police said.

Area SHO Agha Abdul Rasheed said that there was a tyre shop that also housed a gas welding shop, which was being used to repair vehicles. A gas cylinder was kept in the shop, which exploded and injured five people.

They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced Waqas dead while Sikander, Abdul Hunain, Owais and Abid were admitted for treatment.

The police said the deceased was the owner of the shop.
