SWAT: The district administration on Monday removed landslide debris and large boulders from Kalam-Mahodand Road, reopening the artery to two-way traffic and ensuring access to one of the Swat’s most popular tourist destinations.

The director general of Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA), Shoaib Abbas, ordered officials concerned to clear the road after complaints were lodged by tourists.

Heavy machinery was deployed to clear the blocked section of the road and restore traffic flow.

After the road was cleared, hundreds of tourists moved to Mahodand and other scenic sites.

According to data released by the district administration, around 400,000 tourists visited Swat during Eid holidays. Authorities expect an increase in the number of visitors in the coming days as more tourists continue to arrive in the region.

Tourists appreciated the prompt response and expressed gratitude to Upper Swat Development Authority for addressing the issue without delay and ensuring safe travel on the busy road.

The spokesperson for Upper Swat Development Authority said that in line with the provincial government’s good governance policy efforts would continue to facilitate tourists and ensure their safe, comfortable and uninterrupted travel throughout the region.
