LAHORE: A 38-year-old motorcyclist sustained injuries after being hit by a stray kite string in Gulberg on Saturday.
According to police and rescue officials, the incident occurred when a stray kite string entangled in the neck of motorcyclist Zahid near the Firdous Market flyover in Gulberg.
He suffered injuries and was shifted to Services Hospital for treatment where he was said to be stable.
Gulberg Police registered a case and started investigations to trace those involved in illegal kite-flying activities.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks posed by unsafe kite-flying practices, particularly in densely populated urban areas and near flyovers where traffic remains heavy.
Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran took notice of the incident and issued a show-cause notice to the Gulberg station house officer over negligence in enforcing the ban effectively in the area.
The DIG said strict action against kite-flying violations is ongoing across Lahore, adding that police operations had been intensified even during the Eidul Azha period.
He further said that 12 cases were registered during the holidays for violations of the kite-flying ban.
