SAHIWAL: Civil Lines Police arrested a man impersonating a superintendent of police (SP) after intercepting a suspicious vehicle near Nagal Ambiya School on Friday evening.

According to police, a temporary picket had been set up to check commuters on the third day of Eid when the officials stopped a suspicious car bearing black-tinted windows, a revolving police light, and a green Punjab government number plate.

The driver identified himself as Imran and claimed to be an SP posted in Multan City. However, when police sought his identification and posting details, verification revealed that the number plate was registered in Sindh and that no police officer named Imran was serving in Multan.

During a search of the vehicle, police recovered a fake SP uniform, a counterfeit service card, badges, and two mobile phone numbers with no official connection to the police department.

The suspect was booked in case No. 162/26 registered at Civil Lines Police Station under Sections 419, 420, 468, 470, and 471 of the Pakistan Penal Code, Section 112-E, and relevant provisions of the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Fourth Amendment) Ordinance 2025.

The case was registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Tahir.

Noor Shah Police registered a case under Section 324 of the PPC against unidentified suspects on the complaint of ASI Muhammad Saleem the same night.

Shaheen succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, after which her body was sent for autopsy. At the hospital, some of her relatives claimed that she had died by suicide and sought custody of the body without a postmortem examination.

Police, however, arrested two suspects and launched further investigation into the incident. Following her death, murder charges were added to the earlier FIR.

It is said her paternal family members including Aftab Sabi, Hamza Raja and two unknown men invaded her house and accused her husband of stealing a few items.

They started torturing her and strangled her. On neighbours arrival, they left her in a critical condition.

Pathani Bibi fainted and was admitted to hospital where she expired on Saturday.

They accused Patahani of concealing the stolen items. Kameer Police registered a murder case on the compliant of Mumtaz.

OVERCHARGING: On the complaints of 36 animal sellers, two cattle market commission agents were fined for overcharging and violating Section 144 at the cattle market near 99/9-L, Pakpattan Road, Sahiwal City.

The fines were imposed on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sami.

Reports said commission agents, Wahid Mashal and Malik Shahnaz, were accused of extracting excessive fees from animal sellers.

The official fee was set at Rs15 per animal per square foot, but both agents were allegedly charging Rs50 per square foot. Around 36 sellers lodged complaints against the contractors.
