POLLUTED COUNTRY: According to global reports, Pakistan is among the most polluted countries in the world. Air pollution not only affects the country’s economy, but also human health, and contributes significantly to the worsening climate change phenomenon. However, the issue can be managed if taken seriously. Brick kilns are a major source of air pollution. The zigzag kiln is a more efficient method for manufacturing bricks as it improves fuel combustion while lowering harmful emissions. Despite these benefits, traditional kilns remain widely in use due to a serious lack of awareness. The authorities concerned must raise public awareness regarding better alternatives, and implement effective measures to control pollution.

HORROR MOVIE: I was recently watching television with my family when suddenly a trailer for a recently released Pakistani film appeared on the screen. The film showed zombies attacking the country and its people. It was quite disturbing to watch the images due to blood and gore. Such movies do not promote education, culture or moral values. Instead, they encourage horror and violence. People who frequently watch such films may become less sensitive to violence and suffering in real life. Film producers should take responsibility for the impact their content may have on society, and create meaningful content that has a positive effect on the viewers.

FIXED CHARGES: There appears to be no justification of fixed charges imposed by the government on utility bills. Public representatives in assemblies should move a motion to withdraw such highly unjustified charges as they are an extra financial burden on consumers. Since the consumers pay for energy consumption and taxes, such fixed charges should immediately be withdrawn. Sui gas consumers pay meter rent in every monthly bill as well, which is an unending process that consumers are entangled in.
