KABUL: Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan will miss a one-off Test against India next month but selectors on Tuesday included the ace spinner in the squad for the three-match One-day International series.

The 27-year-old spinner was advised to cut down on long-format cricket to manage workload as he plays in several Twenty20 franchise leagues.

Unfit opener Ibrahim Zadran will also miss the Test, which is scheduled for June 6-10 in New Chandigarh.

Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the Test side as well as in three one-day internationals that follow, which will be played in Dharamsala (June 13), Lucknow (June 17) and Chennai (June 20).

Nangyal Kharoti, Bilal Sami and Rahmanullah Zadran were selected for a Test for the first time while leg-spinner Qais Ahmad made a return to the side.

Since gaining Test status in 2017, Afghanistan have played only one against India, in 2018.
