1,584 kanal state land retrieved after 50 years in Surkhpur

GUJRAT: The district administration on Monday retrieved 1,584 kanal state land in Surkhpur village of Tanda police precincts after five decades.

A senior official of the land revenue department told Dawn that the land remained under illegal occupation for nearly 50 years.

Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had dismissed the case of the illegal occupants after which the local authorities retrieved the land.

The official operation team was being led by Gujrat Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADCR ) Revenue Waqas Safdar Sikandari and Assistant Commissioner Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon.

Officials of land revenue department, PERA and local police also participated in the operation.

Deputy Commissioner Nurulain Qureshi reiterated the administration’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal occupation and encroachments on the state land.
