QUETTA: The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Balochistan Goods Truck Owners Association have expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in the province.
In a joint statement issued here on Monday, they said that repeated attacks and torching of trucks carrying coal and other goods in various areas of the province have made their lives miserable and they were facing huge financial losses because of the situation.
Traders and transporters announced that after discussing the issue with all chambers of commerce, traders’ bodies and business community, a joint strategy and future course of action would be announced.
Condemn rising incidents of torching of goods vehicles across Balochistan
A delegation of the Balochistan Goods Truck Owners Association, led by its President Noor Muhammad Shahwani, met President of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry Haji Muhammad Ayub Mariani and Senior Vice President Haji Akhtar Kakar.
They discussed the serious law and order situation in the province and the challenges and difficulties it posed to the business community and goods’ transporters in the province.
They condemned rising incidents of goods vehicles’ torching in different parts of the province which they said are badly affecting trade and transportation activities in the province.
It was decided in the meeting that a broad consultative session would be held on June 3 at the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry in which office-bearers of all chambers of commerce, traders’ associations, clearing agents, dry fruit traders, rice exporters, oil tanker associations, National Fruit and Vegetable Association, commission agents, coal-mines’ association would be invited to announce a joint course of action.
The business community leaders said that recurring attacks on minerals-carrying trucks and other goods-carrying vehicles had shaken the business community’s confidence and made it difficult for them to continue their business in the province.
Those who attended the meeting included Haji Zahir Shah, Haji Attaullah Kakar, Haji Murad Khan Kakar, Haji Muhammad Amin Samalani, Haji Babu Raisani, Abdul Qadeem Breech and Haji Barat Kakar.
