KARACHI: Pakistan and Norway signed a bilateral trade agreement in Karachi on Tuesday [May 22] for a period of 12 months. The agreement, which comes into force with immediate effect, is subject to ratification by the two Governments. Under the agreement, Pakistan has agreed to supply raw jute, tea, skins and hides, cotton, chrome, ore, rock salt, gypsum, surgical instruments to Norway, besides other raw materials. In return she will get paper, newsprint, cardboard, pig iron, electrical goods, besides medicines, household scales and auxiliaries for tanneries and other small machinery.
Norway has granted certain concessions with regard to licensing for imports to Pakistan within the framework of the Organisation for European Economic Cooperation.
