OKARA: A man was allegedly killed by his second wife and her three accomplices at the Chamra Mandi locality in the Saddar Gogera area on the Okara-Faisalabad road.

As per the first information report (FIR), the complainant along with his other family members was at home when his step-mother Mumtaz Bibi entered and shouted that she along with Sania and two men had strangled her husband, Muhammad Raza, to death and his body was lying at the Rural Health Centre ( RHC), Gogera.

The complainant, Raza’s son Ali Haider, along with family and FIR witnesses rushed to the RHC where Raza was lying dead with torture marks around the neck.

On the report of Ali Haider, Gogera police registered a case against Mumtaz, Sania and two unidentified men. Mumtaz was the second wife of Raza.

The FIR gives no motive of the murder.

Gogera police claimed to have arrested Mumtaz. disposed of: The Lahore High Court (LHC) disposed of the petition filed by Chaudhry Sajid Mehmood against the acting registrar of the University of Okara (UO).

The petitioner had challenged Jamil Asim’s posting as registrar and challenged his degree of Master’s of Science (MSc).

UO’s legal adviser Junaid Jabbar Khan advocate appeared in the court of Justice Khalid Ishaq and submitted that the regular appointment for the position of UO registrar was in the final stage in furtherance of advertisement no 02 of 2025.

Regarding the position being occupied by the incumbent registrar, the counsel submitted that the incumbent was performing additional charge of the registrar of the university for three months only.

In view of the above submission, the petition was disposed of with the direction that regular statutory appointment at the university be made expeditiously.
