TOBA TEK SINGH: six people were seriously injured in a clash between two groups over a ‘fodder dispute’ at the Niamoana cattle market on Samundari Road in Faisalabad on Wednesday.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the quarrel erupted over the placement of cattle fodder, during which both groups used sticks freely against each other. The injured were identified as Saeed Imdad (40), Shamshad (42), Amin (36), Imanullah (28), Sanaullah (36), a resident of Sukkur, and Javed Raza (23) of Jaranwala.
They were shifted to Allied Hospital, where the condition of two injured persons was stated to be critical.
Police arrested several people from both groups.
Woman arrested: Kabirwala Saddar police in Khanewal district arrested a woman on Wednesday for allegedly retracting her statement in a rape case.
According to the first information report registered under Section 22 of the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act and Sections 422, 182 and 213 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Asghar Anjum, complainant ‘R’ had earlier alleged in an FIR registered under Section 376 of the PPC that ‘K’ had raped her.
However, police said she later refused to undergo a DNA test and told the court that ‘K’ was not her rapist, leading to his release by the court.
ACCIDENTS: Two teenage cousins were killed after a speeding dumper hit their motorcycle near Chak 81-JB Pandori in the jurisdiction of Thikriwala police station in Faisalabad on Tuesday night.
Rescue 1122 officials said Samiullah (15), and Ali Raza (14) residents of Chak 81-JB Pandori, were returning to their village from Painsara on Dijkot Road when a dumper coming from the opposite direction ran over their motorcycle.
Both sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. The dumper driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a tractor-trolley on Bhakkar Road in Athara Hazari, Jhang.
The deceased was identified as Shoaib (32).
BURNS: A woman died after suffering severe burns in Mian Channu, Khanewal.
Police said Parveen Bibi (30) was cooking in her kitchen at Chak 128/15-L when her scarf caught fire, which quickly spread to her clothes. She sustained critical burns and later succumbed to her injuries.
