SUKKUR: Four coaches of the Sukkur Express derailed near the Abad station of Jacobabad on Sunday causing chaos and panic among passengers. No one was injured in the mishap.

The train, coming from Karachi, met with the accident due to some fault, developed on the tracks at the Abad station, local railway officials said.

They added that no casualty was reported in the incident.

They said repair and restoration work was carried out immediately after the accident.

Many of the panicked passengers jumped out of the train to know about the jerks they felt and an abrupt halt to the train. However, they calmed down upon seeing that only four coaches of the train had jumped off the tracks.

The district administration and railway police helped passengers vacate the derailed coaches and made arrangements for their onward journey.

All passengers on board experienced great hardship while waiting for the restoration of the rail traffic amid extremely hot weather conditions currently prevailing in most areas of Sindh.

The rail traffic on this sector remained disrupted till late at night.
