SWABI: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her brother for honour in a far-flung area of the Swabi district on Saturday, the police said.

The incident took place in the Beena Mira locality of Saleem Khan union council. The deceased woman had married a man in Lahore without the consent of her family some four months ago. Recently, she visited her family in Swabi, where she was killed.

Police officials said the suspect killed her sister inside their house and managed to escape soon after committing the crime.

The body was shifted to the nearby hospital for a postmortem.

The police collected evidence from the crime scene, registered an FIR and started further investigations.
