LAKKI MARWAT: A man killed his wife for ‘honour’ in Wanda Michenkhel area of Lakki Marwat district on Friday, the police said.
Dadiwala police quoted a complainant, Qismatullah, as telling them in his preliminary report that his sister had been married to a man three years ago and the couple had a son and a daughter.
The complainant said his sister was forced to leave her house after she was allegedly found with her husband’s cousin three months ago, and subsequently, she stayed with her parents.
The complainant said on the day of the occurrence, she was taken back to her house by her husband and then was killed with a firearm.
The police said the suspected killer escaped the place, while the body was handed over to the family after completing medico-legal formalities at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Serai Naurang.
They registered a case against the suspect and initiated an investigation.
Meanwhile, the Karak police arrested 11 suspects, including proclaimed offenders and their facilitators, during a search and strike operation on Friday.
District police officer Imran Khan said the operation was simultaneously conducted within the limits of the Latambar and city police stations.
He said the suspects included six proclaimed offenders who were wanted by police in various cases of a heinous nature. The DPO said the law enforcers also captured two facilitators.
He said that the cops seized three AK-47 assault rifles, four pistols, bullets, 1.9kg of hashish and a small quantity of ice from the arrested men and registered cases against them.
STATE LAND RETRIEVED: The district administration retrieved over 25 kanals of state land along the waterways during an anti-encroachment operation in Karak district on Friday.
The operation was launched in the Ahmadabad area of Takhti-i-Nasrati tehsil on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Asad Sarwar.
During the operation, both sides of the water courses were cleared of encroachments.
An official of the district administration said the land grabbers did not abide by the notices served to them to remove encroachments voluntarily, leading to the action.
He said illegal construction along waterways obstructed the smooth flow of water and caused damage to agricultural lands, settlements and public property during floods, thus necessitating the operation.
