ISLAMABAD, July 4: Pakistan Baitul Mal (PBM) will establish Drug and Diagnostic Centre at Shaheed Sherpao Complex at Hayatabad, Peshawar for the welfare of needy and deserving persons.

A Memorandum of understanding has been signed between Health Department and the PBM for construction of the drug treatment centre, official sources said on Tuesday.

They said that state-of-the-art equipment and advanced lab facility will be set up at the centre, adding, PBM has allocated Rs 200 million for the said project.

The source said poor and needy patients will not only be provided free of treatment but they will also be able to avail the facilities of expensive tests for which they had to travel to Lahore and Karachi.

When asked, they said, “PBM has introduced Online Transaction System across the country for immediate treatment of poor and deserving patients”.

They said, “We have planned to hold a number of seminars and workshops to create awareness among the people about health care.—APP
