ISLAMABAD: During crackdown against electricity pilferage, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) imposed a fine of Rs9.1 million on pilferers in April.
Chief Executive Officer Iesco Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood, while sharing details of the ongoing crackdown against electricity pilferers, stated that operations were being carried out continuously and without discrimination across all operation circles
“During April 2026, more than 66,000 meters were checked, and 87 thieves were caught during these operations.
Fines exceeding Rs9.1 million were imposed against 166,000 detection units, meters were disconnected, and arrests were also made,” he said.
He further stated that since September 2023, under the operation launched on the directives of the Government of Pakistan, a total of 6,837 electricity thieves have been fined Rs. 589.3 million, while 3,254 electricity thieves have been arrested. He added that 95pc recovery from electricity thieves has also been ensured.
“Iesco is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against electricity theft,” he said.
