UMERKOT: A big rally was taken out here on Saturday by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers who marched from Teen Talwar to the local press club to mark 1,000th day of their Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s detention.

Participants at the gathering expressed solidarity with the veteran politician, asserting that his prolonged detention was a consequence of his unwavering loyalty to PTI founder Imran Khan.

Addressing the crowd, PTI leader Lal Malhi and other speakers praised Mr Qureshi for his steadfastness, noting that he has demonstrated exceptional dignity and resilience despite facing “political victimisation” and severe hardships. They argued that his sacrifice has transcended personal struggle, evolving into a symbol of democratic values, constitutional supremacy, and the rule of law.

“One thousand days behind bars has failed to dampen his spirits or imprison his ideology,” the speakers remarked. “A prison cell may confine a man, but not his thoughts.”

The leadership further maintained that history honours those who stand by their principles and the rights of the people, rather than those who compromise for temporary gains. They credited the party vice chairman with establishing the party’s ideological footprint in the region, noting that despite ongoing “oppression,” the public remains firmly aligned with the PTI platform.
