TAXILA: A court in Attock has sentenced one brother to death and the other to life imprisonment in a high-profile murder and attempted murder case registered at Attock City Police Station on June 15, 2024, under section 302,324, 337 and 34 Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), police sources said on Friday.

Following a comprehensive investigation, police collected solid forensic and testimonial evidence and presented it before the court. After completion of the effective investigation, solid evidence, and credible witness testimonies, as well as the trial, Sessions Judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain Awan announced the verdict.

The court sentenced the accused Asad Sultan to death after charges under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code were proven against him. He was also awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 324 PPC for attempted murder. Co-accused Osama Sultan was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 302 PPC. The court also awarded him 10 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 324 PPC and an additional two years rigorous imprisonment.

Both brothers were sent to the Central jail in Attock to serve out the remainder of their sentences.

Separately, a court for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) in Taxila on Friday sentenced nine years’ imprisonment to an accused involved in a drug peddling case.

The accused was arrested by Wah Saddar Police in December 2025 in the case registered under section 9-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 after the recovery of 1.60 kilograms of hashish from his custody. The judge, after hearing the arguments of defence and prosecution counsels, announced the verdict that the defendant was found guilty of selling drugs, subsequently awarded 9-year imprisonment and a fine worth Rs80,000.

During the proceedings, the public prosecutor for the state argued that the accused was caught red-handed while smuggling the contraband, and the evidence on record fully connected him with the commission of the offence.

He maintained that the accused was charged with a heinous offence and he did not deserve any leniency. He was sent to the Adyala jail in Rawalpindi to serve out the remainder of his sentence.
