TOBA TEK SINGH: A youth was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his grandmother and injuring her sister in the Madina Block locality of Pirmahal over a property dispute.

A police spokesperson told reporters that Saleema Bibi (71) reached her sister Rabia Bibi’s house in Madina Block after recording her statement in a court against her grandson Arshad regarding ownership of her farmland. He claimed that Arshad forced his entry into the house and repeatedly hit his grandmother with a sharp knife. When her sister attempted to save her, the accused also allegedly attacked her, the spokesperson claimed.

He further said that both women were seriously wounded and shifted to the Pirmahal THQ Hospital where doctors referred them to the Toba DHQ Hospital. Later, Saleema Bibi succumbed to her injuries.

MURDER SOLVED: Police claimed to have solved the blind murder of a woman and arrested a woman and a man for the killing in Tandlianwala.

A police spokesperson said that on April 26, Hajira Bibi was passing through the fields from Chak 415 GB to Tandlianwala when unidentified persons abducted her and she had been missing since then.

During investigation, he claimed the police traced Fauzia Bibi and her accomplice Muhammad Arshad through geo-fencing. Both were arrested and they confessed to abducting her to snatch her gold ornaments and killing her afterwards. They told the police that they threw her body in a canal near Okara.

Police have recovered the body from the canal and also recovered ornaments from the arrested accused persons.

ROOF COLLAPSE: A youth died while his mother was seriously injured when the roof of a grocery store in the Khanjawan locality of Pirmahal tehsil caved in on Friday.

According to reports, the incident took place when the affected family was inside the shop when its roof suddenly collapsed due to heavy construction material stored there.

Rescue teams reached the spot, removed the debris and shifted the injured woman to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

The deceased was identified as Sameeullah (18) and injured as his mother Nasreen Bibi (50).

NUTRITION CAMPAIGN: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) constituent college in Toba organised a nutrition campaign under the supervision of Principal Prof Dr Rashid Waseem Khan Qadri.

The activity consisted of a nutritional awareness seminar and an assessment camp. It focused on intermediate students and provided them with awareness regarding human nutrition and dietetics education.

UAF human nutrition and dietetics (HND) students were engaged in this activity to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting, offering nutrition counselling and assessment.

The postgraduate students of HND actively did the nutrition assessment and provided nutrition recommendations to not only students but also teachers.
