CHARSADDA: An important meeting of the general council of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl held at Jamia Mahmoodia Turngzai Charsadda expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation being conducted by Charsadda police into the killing of Maulana Muhammad Idrees.

The meeting with party district emir Maulana Dr Ilahi Jan in the chair held detailed deliberations on the tragic martyrdom of Sheikhul Hadith Maulana Muhammad Idrees Shaheed, protest demonstration scheduled for Friday and the future course of action.

The participants expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of police and relevant institutions, stating that despite passage of three days no meaningful progress has been made in the case.

The general council unanimously decided that if no significant development was reported by 10am today (Friday), JUI-F district Charsadda would proceed with its planned protest strategy.

The meeting further warned that continued silence over targeted killings of religious scholars was unacceptable and that failure to arrest the culprits would lead to an widespread protest movement.

The participants also expressed gratitude to the people of Hashtnagar, particularly residents of Rajjar, Utmanzai, Tangi/Tarngzai and Umarzai for their hospitality and cooperation with visiting delegations.

The meeting concluded with special prayers for forgiveness and higher ranks of Maulana Idrees Shaheed and for patience for the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, the condolence gathering for renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Idrees drew a steady stream of mourners from across the country to Tangi/Tarngzai, as the entire area remained engulfed in grief, with emotional scenes and tearful eyes witnessed throughout Thursday.

A large number of leading religious scholars and political leaders, social figures, federal and provincial ministers, MNAs, MPAs, government functionaries and thousands of Maulana’s followers attended the gathering. Participants offered Fateha and expressed condolences with the bereaved family.

Among the prominent figures who attended and offered condolences included KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, JUI-F central secretary general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, provincial general secretary Atta-ul-Haq Darvesh, Jamia Darul Uloom Haqqania Akora Khattak head Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq, former provincial ministers Barrister Arshad Abdullah and Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, MPAs Arshad Umarzai, Liaqat Ali and Ijaz Ahmed, former mayor Himmatullah Mayar, Maulana Aziz-ul-Hassan, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Hafiz Abid Ahmed, renowned Naat Khawn Hassani from Karachi, and Deputy emir of International Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Movement Rawalpindi Maulana Adam Khan, besides hundreds of other scholars and thousands of students.
