Three policemen arrested for killing student in Quetta

QUETTA: Three policemen were arrested on Wednesday and a case was registered against them for killing a student on Sariab Road area.

According to the FIR, the incident occurred on Samungli Road on Monday-Tuesday night, when a young man named Safeer Ahmed Bajwa travelling in a car with his brother, was signalled by the three policemen to stop the vehicle near the university, but when the car did not stop, the policemen chased the vehicle and opened fire. As a result of the police firing, Safeer Ahmed Bajwa was hit in the head by a bullet and was killed on the spot.

A senior police officer said a case has been registered against the three policemen, one of them is an ASI, and they have been taken into custody.

The DIG of Quetta police has formed an investigation committee to investigate the incident.

According to the police official, the committee will work under the supervision of SSP of Serious Crimes Investigation Wing and it will review all aspects of the case.
