RAWALPINDI: Students and teachers of Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) on Wednesday observed Marqa-i-Haq day in commemoration of Pakistan’s historic victory against India.
The ceremony was organised at Rawalpindi Medical University, which was attended by a large number of teachers and students.
The purpose of the ceremony was to pay tribute to this great victory and to highlight the unity, courage and sacrifices of the defense forces of the nation.
Addressing the ceremony, Rawalpindi Medical University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Umer said that the Battle of truth was not only a military victory but also a shining example of the unity, faith and perseverance of the nation.
He said that in this war, the armed forces of Pakistan demonstrated unparalleled courage, professionalism and sacrifice and crushed the evil intentions of the enemy. He said that this victory is not only the victory of the Pakistani forces but the nation s well, in which every individual played a role at his own level.
He further said that the younger generation should learn from this historic victory and develop patriotism, integrity and professionalism within themselves so that they can serve the country and the nation better in the future. He urged the students to focus fully on their education and become a strong asset for the country.
Rawalpindi Medical College Principal Professor Dr Mohammad Khurram, in his address, said that the war proved that when a nation unites and has full faith in its forces, no power can defeat it. He said that the history of Pakistan is full of sacrifices and struggles and this victory is a continuation of these sacrifices.
He paid tribute to the Pakistan army and said that our soldiers sacrificed their lives to defend the beloved homeland and thwarted the evil intentions of the enemy.
He also emphasised that faith, unity and discipline are the basic principles that make us successful in every difficult time.
Addressing the students, he asked them to instill a sense of national responsibility in themselves and work hard to make Pakistan famous in every field.
A special documentary video was also presented during the ceremony, which was prepared by Rawalpindi Medical University. In this video, the important moments of the struggle for truth, the bravery of the Pakistani army, and the unity of the nation were presented.
Teachers and students also expressed their views at the ceremony and appreciated the services of the Pakistan Army.
Many students expressed their determination to contribute to the development of the country by showing excellent performance in their respective fields. On this occasion, special prayers were also offered for the martyrs and tributes were paid to their sacrifices.
Meanwhile, speakers at a webinar emphasised that in today’s rapidly evolving information environment, media carries a profound responsibility to uphold accuracy, balance, and integrity while also reinforcing confidence, resilience, and unity among citizens.
The discussion underscored the need for constructive narratives that support national interests and foster a shared sense of purpose.
The Information Service Academy (ISA), in collaboration with the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), Islamabad, had organized the webinar titled “Narrative of Truth: Media’s Role in Building National Resolve” to commemorate Marka-i-Haq and highlight the critical role of media in shaping informed public discourse, promoting national unity, and strengthening collective resolve.
The webinar brought together officers of the 43rd Specialized Training Program along with panelists Maj Gen. Saad Khattak, Qamar Cheema, General Shahid Mahmood Kiyani, and retired Ambassador Jauhar Saleem.
Ms. Samina Farzin, Executive Director General reiterated the importance of such dialogues in building awareness, strengthening institutional understanding, and promoting a narrative rooted in truth, responsibility, and national commitment.
The webinar reflected ISA’s ongoing efforts to engage future public servants and stakeholders in meaningful conversations on issues of national importance and to encourage responsible communication in support of Pakistan’s progress and unity.
