SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: In a significant move aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening internal discipline, the district police in South Waziristan Lower have formally launched a biometric verification and attendance system for all the personnel stationed at Wana police lines.

The initiative has been undertaken on the directives of District Police Officer Muhammad Tahir Shah Wazir, who emphasised the need for an effective attendance management system and improved accountability within the force. The verification process began on Wednesday and is expected to cover all officers and staff within the stipulated time frame.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Wana Circle Naqeeb Khan Marwat personally supervised the exercise at the site to ensure that the process was conducted in an organised, transparent and efficient manner. He was accompanied by Police Lines Officer Qutab Khan and OCI Masoodd Khan, who assisted in overseeing the verification procedures.

According to police officials, the biometric verification system is being introduced to digitise attendance records, minimise the possibility of fraudulent entries and ensure accurate documentation of personnel presence. The physical verification, conducted alongside the biometric process, is intended to confirm the actual deployment and availability of officers, thereby providing a clearer assessment of the force’s operational strength.

Officials stated that all personnel assigned to Wana Police Lines have been instructed to complete their biometric and physical verification within the prescribed period. Strict compliance has been emphasised and the authorities have warned that failure to adhere to the directives or absence from the process may result in legal and departmental action against the individuals concerned.

The district police leadership reiterated its commitment to fostering accountability, transparency and professionalism within the department.
