NAROWAL: Four people died and two others were injured when the roof of an under-construction house collapsed in Shakargarh.

Narowal Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that they received information about the roof collapse in village Ladhar of Shakargarh tehsil and immediately dispatched teams from Narowal, Shakargarh and Norkot.

He said the roof of the under-construction house of citizen Muhammad Waqas had suddenly collapsed and a large number of locals reached the spot to help the trapped persons.

He said that the rescue teams started a search operation to find six people buried under the rubble with the help of local people. He said that Narowal District Emergency Officer Engineer Aurangzeb and local police also reached the spot.

The spokesperson said that the rescue operation continued for two hours, after which Sadaf Zubair (32), Hameed Zubair (10), Shanze Zubair (6), Hadiya Zubair (1), Rafaqat Ali (45) and 7-month-old Faraz Waqas were seriously injured after being buried under the rubble. He said the rescue medical team provided first aid to the injured on the spot.

The spokesperson said that Sadaf Zubair, Hameed Zubair, Shanze Zubair and Rafaqat Ali died on the spot due to their critical condition. He said the injured were shifted to the Shakargarh THQ Hospital for treatment.

He said that the deceased were guests at the house of landlord Muhammad Waqas. He said the house was being renovated by putting lanterns to further strengthen the roof when it collapsed.

Engineer Aurangzeb said that citizens should take precautionary measures to prevent accidents during the construction of houses.
