LAHORE: An anti-corruption court on Tuesday sought prosecution arguments on acquittal pleas of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s daughter and son-in-law in a case of alleged irregularities in the Punjab Saaf Pani Company.

Earlier, Advocate Misbahul Hassan concluded his arguments on behalf of the applicant couple Rabia and Ali Imran Yousaf.

He contended that there was no evidence linking the applicants to the alleged offence.

He argued that both applicants had been implicated in the case solely due to their relationship with the prime minister.

He asked the court to allow the pleas and acquit the couple of the baseless charges. He pointed out that all other accused persons in the case had already been acquitted by the trial court.

Judge Javaid Iqbal Warraich adjourned further hearing till Wednesday (today) and directed a state prosecutor to present his arguments.

The other day, the anti-corruption establishment informed the court that the investigation found the couple innocent.

The couple was accused of getting illegal monetary benefit by renting out their plaza in Gulberg, Lahore, to the Saaf Pani Company for establishing its office.
