RAWALPINDI: A teenage housemaid was allegedly tortured by her employer’s wife using electrical devices in Bahria Town’s phase VIII, police said.

Police raids were underway to arrest the accused, a police spokesman said.

Mohammad Adeel Riaz, a foot constable lodged an FIR with the Rawat Police saying that he was on night duty in Bahria Town’s phase VIII when he heard screams of a young girl who was rushing out of a house in sector P.

He further said in the FIR that the girl identified herself, and revealed that her parents via a company employed her as a housemaid against Rs20,000 per month four months ago.

She alleged in her statement that she was never allowed to call her parents and to visit them during the past four months.

“I was often tortured, beaten by the couple who also burnt her by using electrical devices and used to bite her with her teeth,” she further alleged and added: “There are bruises and marks ofteeth bites on different parts of her body.” She said that she was locked inside a room, however, she managed to escape now.

After she sought police help, her mother was contacted by police. Later, the housemaid was sent to Rural Health Center (RHC) for medical examination in police custody.

City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani took notice of the report of violence against a 13-year-old domestic worker in the Rawat police station area, sought a report from SP Sadar Division and ordered immediate arrest of the accused.

A police spokesman said that a case was registered at Rawat police station on the complaint of the police, and the accused involved in the violence and the parents of the domestic worker were also arrested.

The affected girl has been treated and is being handed over to the Child Protection Department, the spokesman said.

Police raids are being carried out to arrest the remaining suspects.

Those involved in violence against innocent girl will be brought to justice, the CPO said.
