MOHMAND: A tree plantation campaign titled “Green Mohmand” was launched in collaboration with the Asghar Mohmand Foundation and the district administration in an effort to protect the environment and restore greenery in the district.

The campaign was inaugurated at selected sites in Mohmand, where saplings were planted by officials, representatives of Asghar Mohmand Foundation and other stakeholders.

The initiative is directed at addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

Organisers said that the campaign was aimed at combating climate change, reducing environmental degradation and improving ecological balance.

They stressed that increasing forest cover was essential for soil conservation, improved air quality and climate resilience.

Terming the collaboration vital for achieving plantation targets, officials emphasised the importance of public engagement particularly youth in protecting the saplings to ensure their growth.

They urged local communities to take ownership of the campaign and play their role to combat climate change.

The “Green Mohmand” initiative is likely to be expanded to other parts of the district to nurture a cleaner and greener environment.
