MIRPURKHAS: Scores of people were affected by heat stroke and more than 20 of them admitted to various health facilities in Mirpurkhas division on Saturday as mercury shot up to 47 degrees Celsius.

The victims included women and children. The extremely hot weather conditions badly affected business, trade and commercial activities as roads, street and public places wore a deserted look in the mid-day hours. The worst-hit segments appeared to be labourers and farmers.

Doctors have advised people to remain indoors unless inevitable to escape effects of the heatwave.
