LAHORE: Religious scholars, senior officials and representatives of minority communities have underscored the need for national unity, interfaith harmony and collective resolve to confront internal and external challenges, while paying tribute to the armed forces for their role in ensuring national security.

They were addressing Bunyanun Marsoos Stability of Pakistan conference organised by Multan Peace Committee here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, who also serves as Khateeb and Imam of Badshahi Mosque and chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council, stressed that Pakistan required unity, religious harmony, tolerance and stability.

He said it was the responsibility of scholars and religious platforms to promote peace and counter divisive narratives.

Other speakers said the country was passing through a critical juncture, requiring cohesion and a unified national response. They emphasised that safeguarding Pakistan’s stability and integrity was a collective responsibility.

Paying homage to the armed forces on the completion of one year of Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, they said the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with its leadership and security institutions. They observed that the armed forces had demonstrated professionalism and resilience, boosting national morale and reinforcing defence capabilities.

Multan Commissioner Amir Karim Khan highlighted the role of civil administration in maintaining stability and coordination, while Regional Police Officer Usman Akram Gondal emphasised the importance of law enforcement agencies in ensuring peace and security.
