Business expo launched at University of Kamalia

TOBA TEK SINGH: The University of Kamalia on Monday organised Business Expo 2026, where students showcased innovative business models, startup ideas and practical entrepreneurial projects aimed at connecting academia with industry.

Deputy Commissioner Umar Mela inaugurated the event, where Vice Chancellor Dr Yasir Nawab, Kamalia Assistant Commissioner Erum Shahzadi, Syndicate members Malik Muhammad Sharif and Shahid Gujjar, were also present.

The expo featured a diverse range of business concepts designed by the varsity students to promote self-employment, investment opportunities and modern entrepreneurial trends.

Students presented workable commercial plans and innovative startup proposals with the objective of attracting investors and members of the business community for future collaborations.

Representatives of local industries, entrepreneurs and business leaders visited the exhibition stalls, reviewed the projects and appreciated the students’ efforts aimed at introducing market-oriented and sustainable business solutions.

Mr Mela toured various stalls set up at the expo, interacted with students and took keen interest in the business models on display.

He lauded the participants for demonstrating creativity, commercial awareness and a forward-looking approach in developing practical business initiatives.

The DC said the youth must move beyond the conventional pursuit of jobs and embrace self-reliance, entrepreneurship and innovation in order to play a meaningful role in economic development.

He said the Business Expo served as an effective platform connecting young talent with investors and the business community.

ARRESTED: The Batala Colony, Faisalabad, police arrested a man who first lodged a child rape case against a suspect, and later declared him innocent in the court, allegedly after receiving Rs500,000 from him.

A police spokesperson said on Monday that a complainant, Muhammad Ali, got registered a child rape case against a suspect, ‘H’, with Batala Colony police.

However, when the police arrested the suspect and submitted the case challan in the court, the complainant gave a statement, saying that ‘H’ did not commit the crime and should be discharged.

As Investigation Officer (IO) Muhammad Farooq investigated the matter, it transpired that the complainant allegedly received Rs500,000 from ‘H’ for giving a statement in the court, absolving him of the crime.

After ascertaining the facts, the police arrested the complainant, Muhammad Ali.
