SARGODHA: The health department issued show cause notices to three lady workers and 46 other officials for misreporting on vaccination during the polio campaign and launched an inquiry.
According to sources, the authorities concerned, in the review meeting of the anti-polio campaign and EPI programme, took notice of the poor performance, misreporting and provision of wrong data by the officials. It made it clear that negligence or wrong reporting in a sensitive matter like polio would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The CEO health, taking notice of this wrong reporting, issued show cause notices to LHWs, Rukhsana Kausar (Jahanian Shah), Sanaullah (Parana Chiba), Yasmin Akhtar as well as 46 officials.
It was informed in the meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner that during the polio campaign, 98 percent of children were vaccinated against polio. The vaccines were administered and 99 percent of the homes were covered. However, 1,287 children are still missing, with a deadline of one month for their vaccination, while 1,126 zero-dose children have been identified.
The DC has expressed concern at the under-reporting of the cases and the poor performance of field teams and ordered strict action.
KIDNAPPED: An 18-year-old girl was kidnapped in Sargodha city.
According to sources, an 18-year-old college student was kidnapped while returning home from college. When she did not reach home, the Urban Area Police Station started searching for the student on the basis of a complaint filed by the father of the abducted student against three people.
HOSPITAL: The Government Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha is expected to be functional by June 30.
Presently interviews are being conducted for different positions.
Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali visited the hospital on Thursday and met with members of the interview panel.
