LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has established a Digital Central Control Office aimed at making the railways system safer, more efficient, and fully integrated.
This state-of-the-art facility, according to a spokesperson, has been set up under the RAIN (Railway Advanced Infrastructure Network) project.
The control room will enable real-time monitoring of railways operations across the country, facilitating data-driven decision-making and promoting an integrated system.
Through this centre, continuous oversight will be maintained on passenger train movements, freight operations, and logistics management.
In addition, the ‘Safe and Smart Railway Stations’ will allow live monitoring of platforms, centralised control of the train dispatch system, comprehensive train surveillance, and real-time tracking of locomotives and other railway assets.
This central control hub is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency, strengthen passenger safety and security, and improve punctuality and service quality.
Furthermore, effective monitoring of infrastructure and assets would ensure optimal utilisation of resources, he added.
