Four of family killed

OKARA, June 30: Four members of a family were murdered and two others injured seriously over a matrimonial dispute in Farooq Gunj locality near Crescent Surgical Industries at Deepalpur Chowk on Friday night.

B-Division police said Naseer, Shafiq, Jamil and their unidentified accomplices, all having screw drivers and ice picks in their hands, entered the house of their son-in-law Zahid living in their neighbourhood at around 8:30pm. They pierced Zahid, his father Ishaq, 60, his mother Sughra, 55, his grandmother Sakina, 90, and brothers Arshad, 20, and Rashid. His parents, grandmother and brother Arshad died on way to hospital. Zahid and Rashid were referred to a Lahore hospital due to seriousness of injuries.

Police said a case for dissolution of Zahid’s marriage was pending in a family court and the accused attacked to murder him.

The bodies have been shifted to the DHQ hospital for autopsy.

None of the attackers has been arrested till the filing of this report.
