HYDERABAD: A festive occasion turned into a scene of mourning early on Thursday morning as three children, including two brothers, were electrocuted on the rooftop of a house in the Tando Tayyab neighbourhood of Hyderabad’s Old City.

The victims have been identified as 14-year-old Abdul Rehman, son of Kamran, and brothers — 10-year-old Faizan and 12-year-old Naveed — sons of Feroz. The children were residents of the Shahdadpur area in the Sanghar district and had travelled to Hyderabad with their families to attend a wedding.

The accident occurred just hours before they were due to attend a Valima reception. According to a neighbour, the children had been cautioned by their elders to avoid the rooftop, though the exact circumstances of how they came into contact with the live wires remain unclear.
