18 girls injured as lightning strikes Tirah madressah

PESHAWAR: At least 18 girl students were injured after a lightning struck a girls seminary in the remote Tirah Valley of Khyber district on Thursday.

According to rescue sources, the incident occurred in the area of Bazaar Zakhakhel Painda China, where lightning struck a madressah. The natural disaster caused panic and left multiple students injured.

Rescue teams promptly reached the site and provided first aid to the injured students. All affected girls were later shifted to a nearby hospital in Dogra for further medical treatment.

Hospital officials confirmed that the injured students, aged between 12 and 16 years, were currently in stable condition and out of danger.

Meanwhile, an explosion in a steel mill located in Bara subdivision of Khyber district, resulted in the death of one worker and injuries to another.

According to rescue sources on Thursday, the blast was caused by some explosive material hidden in the scrap metal that detonated during processing.

Emergency response teams rushed to the scene immediately after the incident and shifted the injured worker to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police said both the deceased and the injured belonged to Sheikhupura, Punjab.
