Murder suspects repatriated from UAE

GUJRAT: Two murder suspects have been repatriated from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), through Interpol.

The repatriated suspects were handed over to the police of concerned districts by the immigration authorities of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at the Lahore airport on Wednesday.

An FIA spokesperson said that the repatriated suspects included Farhan Abbas and Haider Ali, who had been wanted to the Gujranwala and Mandi Bahauddin districts police respectively in two different cases of murder.

The repatriation was made possible through close liaison between the Interpol Islamabad and Abu Dhabi, as the FIA had earlier issued red notices on the request of the Punjab Police for the repatriation of these suspects, the spokesperson added.

ACE ACTION: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Wednesday arrested an assistant director of the Social Security Department of Gujrat.

The arrest was made during a trap raid by a Gujrat ACE team.

An official of ACE said that as per directions of the Director General of ACE, Punjab, Sohail Zafar Chattha, an ACE team under the supervision of raiding magistrate raided at the social security office in Gujrat.

During the raid he said the accused Mudssar Anyat, an official of BPS-17 who was posted as Assistant Director, social security in Gujrat, was arrested whereas a sum of Rs 50,000 was also recovered from the accused on spot which the official had just received as a bribe from a complainant.

A case has also been lodged against the arrested officer under sections 5/2/47 PCA and 161 of Pakistan

Penal Code with the ACE police station.
