BAJAUR: A mortar shell fired from the Afghan side hit a house in Bajaur’s Lowi Mamund tehsil on Tuesday night; however, no casualties were reported.

Official sources and residents told Dawn on Wednesday that a mortar shell fired from across the border struck the house of Shena Khan in the Bara Laghari area, a border locality, which also experienced such incidents in the past.

They said the mortar damaged the house, but did not cause any casualties.

Residents said the fresh attack caused panic among them, adding that it was the second such incident in a week.

The previous attack occurred last Wednesday night, leaving two women and a child martyred, besides injuring two others.

Meanwhile, the residents of Lowi Mamund tehsil condemned the attack, terming it unacceptable.

In social media posts, they said that the frequent mortar shells fired from the Afghan side were causing fear among them, particularly children.
