GILGIT: A Malaysian tourist died after reportedly suffering a stroke in Skardu on Tuesday.

According to police, Chong Yong Huva, a 60-year-old woman, had recently arrived in Skardu for tourism. She was found dead in her hotel room on Tuesday.

Hotel management informed the police, who took the body into custody and completed the necessary legal procedures. Initial investigation suggests that the tourist had a history of medical issues, and died due to a stroke.

Skardu Deputy Commissioner Hamza Murad told Dawn that officials of the Malaysian embassy had been informed about the death.

He said the body would be transferred after consultation with the embassy, which is also in coordination with the deceased’s family.
