QUETTA: An inspector of Balochistan police has been dismissed following confirmed charges of misconduct and record tampering, according to an order from the Central Police Office in Quetta.

Police Inspector Asif Khan Khattak of the Industrial Police Station in Quetta was found guilty of manipulating details in a 2023 investigation.

The inquiry revealed that he altered engine and chassis numbers and introduced inconsistencies in the evidence. An investigation committee, convened to scrutinise the allegations, confirmed the charges of negligence, dishonesty, and purposeful irregularities against Khattak.

The inquiry highlighted his oversight of crucial crime scene evidence, including photographs and videos, and noted his unprofessional investigation methods.

The case in question, initiated at the complainant’s request, involved Khattak incorrectly registering a motorcycle’s details, casting doubt on the entire investigation.

Consequently, the court acquitted the accused individuals in the case.

Despite being issued a show-cause notice and granted the opportunity to justify his conduct, Khattak failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.

Following a review of the evidence, officials upheld the allegations, resulting in Khattak’s dismissal.
