KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said that the lawyers’ community serves as the backbone of justice delivery and strong and effective coordination between the bar and bench is indispensable for the supremacy of law.

He emphasised that practical and immediate steps are required to address the issues faced by lawyers.

He expressed these views while meeting a 17-member delegation of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) at the Governor House, said a press release issued by the Governor House on Saturday.

The delegation was led by SCBA President Haroon Rasheed. Important legal and constitutional matters were discussed in detail during the meeting.

The governor stated that only through effective collaboration between the bar and bench can the country move forward on the path of progress. He stressed the importance of timely delivery of justice and enhancing the active role of lawyers, noting that public confidence in the system can only be restored through effective justice delivery.

He also presented proposals regarding legal reforms and appreciated the role of the legal fraternity.

The SCBA president emphasised the need for establishing a bar office and a hostel for lawyers in Karachi and requested allocation of land for the purpose.
