SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Pakistan Peoples Party district general secretary Imran Mukhlis, who was kidnapped by unidentified armed men, returned home, his family sources said on Saturday.

Imran Mukhlis was kidnapped a day earlier from the Ghowa Khowa area of Wana while he was on his way to pick up his family and children.

Police officials said that armed assailants intercepted his vehicle and forcibly took him along with his car to an undisclosed location.

Family members confirmed that Mukhlis reached home safely following his release, bringing relief to relatives, party workers, and well-wishers.

Mukhlis is considered an active and influential political figure in the Lower South Waziristan district. He is known for raising his voice on public issues.

His abduction had raised questions about the prevailing security situation in the area.

It is worth noting that law and order have deteriorated in South Waziristan over the past year. Bomb blasts, targeted killings, suicide attacks, kidnappings for ransom, and attacks on police and security forces have witnessed a surge in recent years.

Residents and political leaders have urged the police, the district administration, and security forces to take immediate and effective measures to restore peace and ensure the safety and protection of citizens.
