KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have arrested three suspected terrorists linked with Fitna al Hindustan — a term used by the government for terrorist groups in Balochistan.

According to a statement, a joint team of CTD and an intelligence agency carried out a raid and arrested suspects Rehman, Miandad Baloch and Imran and recovered arms from their custody.

It said the held suspects provided ‘shelter’ to terrorists coming from Balochistan to Karachi.

The suspects were also involved in sharing social media posts of terrorist groups and “anti-Pakistan Indian channels”.

Suspect shot dead in ‘encounter’

A suspected robber was shot dead in an alleged encounter on Hub River Road on Friday.

The SITE-B police said that two robbers snatched cell phones from three passers-by in Sher Shah and Paracha Chowk. When they were fleeing, a patrolling police party reached there and chased them.

In an ensuing exchange of firing near Ali Enterprises, one suspect, later identified as Abdul Rauf, was killed while his accomplice managed to escape.

A 9mm pistol, one motorcycle and three snatched cell phones were recovered from his custody. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
