LOWER DIR: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Malakand, has registered cases against several officials for alleged involvement in paper leaks, facilitating cheating, and poor management during the ongoing matriculation examinations.

According to sources, acting on the directives of board chairman Kalimullah, police in Lower and Upper Dir registered FIRs against those found involved, while four suspects, including two teachers and two Class-IV employees, were arrested in Munda tehsil, Wari and Thall areas on Tuesday, and further investigation was underway.

The cases have been registered under Section 3-F of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Conduct of Examinations (Eradication of Malpractices) Act, 1995.

Talking to reporters, the board chairman stated that ensuring a transparent and fair examination system was the board’s fundamental responsibility, adding that strict action was taken against those who violated established protocols and the board’s rules.

Meanwhile, education circles in Lower and Upper Dir have welcomed the board’s move, saying that cheating has become a serious issue and requires firm and effective measures to eliminate it.

HOSPITAL OUTSOURCING: An emergency meeting held at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Samarbagh, on Tuesday opposed the proposed outsourcing of the facility, with participants expressing serious concerns over the government’s possible move.

The meeting was chaired by Dr Sarbuland Khan and attended by representatives of various medical and traders’ bodies.

The participants vowed to resist any attempt to privatise the hospital, stating that handing over the facility to a contractor in the name of outsourcing would be unjust to the public and detrimental to employees’ livelihoods.

They also decided to challenge the move in court and launch a fundraising campaign to cover legal expenses.
