BANNU: Terrorists kidnapped two people in separate incidents here on Tuesday as the security situation further deteriorated in the district, it was learnt.

The police said that the first incident occurred in Shamadi village in the jurisdiction of Miryan police station, where a government schoolteacher, identified as Nadeem, was abducted at gunpoint by terrorists.

In a separate incident, the driver of a gas company vehicle was kidnapped in the limits of the Bakakhel police station.

The kidnappers left the vehicle behind and took away the driver.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order in the district, residents urged the authorities to tighten security to ensure their safety.

The police registered cases under relevant sections of the law and were making efforts to trace the terrorists.
