Neville back in training

BUHLERTAL, June 28: England defender Gary Neville returned to World Cup training on Wednesday for the first time in two weeks after a calf injury.

Neville has played only England's opening 1-0 Group B win over Paraguay after getting injured on the eve of their June 15 victory over Trinidad & Tobago.

He began the session at their Buhlertal training ground, the first 15 minutes of which were open to the media, as the squad prepared for Saturday's quarter-final against Portugal.

Neville's return is likely to trigger a re-shuffle in England's midfield. His most recent stand-in, Owen Hargreaves, would be clear to move back to his more familiar role as a holding midfielder at the expense of Michael Carrick.—Reuters
