GUJRANWALA, June 28: Robbers injured a man and made good their escape with hundreds of thousands of rupees in cash and kind in different parts of the district on Wednesday.

Reports said four armed men stormed into expatriate Haji Akbar’s house in Wazirabad and locked the inmates in a room. They collected gold ornaments worth Rs2 million, Rs500,000 in cash, cell phone sets and wrist watches, and escaped.

Four men took away cash and valuables worth over Rs380,000 from landlord Abu Sufian’s house in Alipur Chattha. Before fleeing, they shot at and injured the landlord.

On the Sheikhupura Road, seven robbers stopped a truck laden with 300 rice bags and drove away with it after throwing driver M. Afzal on the road.

Four highwaymen stopped landlord Muhammad Abbas of Ladheywala village and drove away with his tractor (MNN-4502).

Relevant police stations have registered cases and are investigating.
