HYDERABAD, June 28: A clash marred elections held to elect office-bearers of the Sindh PML-N in Hala on Tuesday when supporters of provincial party’s acting president Saleem Zia, election committee chairman Sardar Abdul Rahim and their opponents attacked each other.

Saleem Zia and Sardar Rahim were also attacked by party workers of the Karachi division.

Reports reaching here from Hala said a meeting of the provincial council was hosted by Makhdoom Shahnawaz at the Makhdoom Shafiquzzaman Auditorium. About 300 members of the council attended the meeting.

The name of exiled leader Syed Ghous Ali Shah for the post of president. He was unanimously elected by the council.

When the name of Saleem Zia was announced as the acting president of the party in the absence of Syed Ghous Ali Shah, the party members from Karachi division mounted the stage and raised slogans against Saleem Zia.
