GUJRANWALA, June 27: As many three senior police officers have been transferred within last three days over political pressure. Source said Muhammad Javed Warriach who was promoted as SP recently was appointed investigation SP in place of Mian Muhammad Maqbool. But the next day he was transferred and posted as investigation SP, Narowal.

Shariq Kamal was posted in Gujranwala as investigation SP but within 24 hours he was transferred to the central police office (CPO).

Nandipur Town SP Mahboob Aslam has now been posted as investigation SP in Gujranwala.

Mian Maqbool who was posted in special branch has now been deployed as regional investigation SSP.

His predecessor Tariq Hanif Joya has been transferred to the special branch.

POWERS WITHDRAWN: The city district government has withdrawn executive powers for the cleanliness system from four towns and gave the same to the district council for revamping it.

The source said Aroop, Nandipur, Khiali and Qila Dedar Singh towns had failed to revamp the cleanliness system, and the people were criticizing the town administration.

The district council will start cleanliness functioning on July 1. District nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chattha confirmed it, and expressed the hope that the cleanliness system would be revamped after utilising all available resources.

FREED: As many as 35 prisoners involved in minor cases were released by the district and sessions judge during his visit to the local jail on Tuesday.
